Mail Storage Settings for Microsoft Outlook

When an e-mail message is sent to you, it first arrives at the Gallatin River mail server, where it is kept until you are ready to retrieve it. Typically, when you check your mail using Outlook (or another mail program), the message is delivered to you and removed from the Gallatin River server. However, there is a setting to leave a copy of the message on Gallatin River mail server. If this option is checked you may accumulate excessive amounts of mail on the Gallatin River mail server. Since your account is limited to 10MB any mail that attempts to reach your mail box once you have reached this 10MB limit will be rejected and returned to the sender.

The following instructions show how to configure Outlook so that your mail is downloaded to your personal computer whenever you check you account.

Open Outlook.

Click 'Tools', once the menu appears click 'Services'.

Click your Gallatin River email account. Usually it is called 'Internet Mail' followed by what ever the account was called when it was set up.

Next, click properties.

Make sure that the checkbox infront of 'Leave a copy of message on server' is empty. If there is a check, remove it by clicking on it.

Click OK
